The Panther

This was one of my earliest independent exercises. The starting point for my stage design is Rilke‘s poem, The Panther. It describes
the suffering of a caged animal. Set in an amphitheater, viewers can look down at the helpless panther in the center of the stage. A circular platform of bars begins to slowly spin on the axis around the center while decreasing in diameter. The center of the stage slowly becomes blindingly bright. „To him, there seem to be a thousand bars and back behind those thousand bars no world.“
